premature guess at chances

<p>i'm currently in my junior year, but stressed that i don't have a chance for any ivies (particularly: UC Berkeley, Harvey Mudd, U Penn, MIT, Stanford)</p>

<p>i'm hoping that out of what i've done so far, some of you will be able to give me advice or guesses at what colleges i'll be able to get into...</p>

Government/Economy (maybe i'll self study for the AP tests)

AP Biology
Differential Equations (communtiy college)</p>

<p>unfortunately(perhaps fortunately for me?) those are the hardest classes</p>

<p>EC's:
-tutored multiple people in algebra/geometry/pre calc
-placed 5th in go figure math competition
-helped teach mathcounts
-made website for mathcounts
-tutored math for a local youth group homework study program
-sophomore class chaplain
-this year, asb chaplain
-probably run for asb president next year
-school play (fall and spring this year and probably next year)
-work as a tech guy (15-20 hours per week)</p>

NHS (This year + Probably next year)
Bible Study (created last year and lead both years)
Tech Club (3 years)
Interact Club (2 years)
Apologetics Study (started this year)</p>

<p>my class rank is terrible right now (around top 14%) as i am still trying to recover from my freshman year...but will go up to top tenth hopefully by the end of the year</p>

<p>practice sat 2 math 2 c -800</p>

<p>That's most of what i have so far...any feedback is much appreciated</p>

<p>From what you wrote above, I would not absolutely rule out a top school. You are only a junior now, you have time. You haven't taken the SAT yet. You are excelling in math and showing initiative to do so by attending a CC. Your ECs show commitment to the math/tech stuff and Bible. Are you in-state for Berkeley? Don't give up on the above schools yet, but look around at others, too. What are you looking for in environment, location, atmosphere, available majors?</p>

<p>yeah, uc berk is in-state for me...i would probably put harvey mudd as my top choice...but i have only read about it, i'm planning on visiting the campus during spring. i think harvey mudd would probably be a good fit for me because i come from a small private school.</p>

<p>Reading your stats, I also thought that Harvey Mudd sounded like the right place for you. Make sure they know it's your first choice. They are probably sick to death of being the Caltech/MIT/Stanford backup plan. I think that you have a pretty good chance.</p>
