ok so i decided to go to ucla over ucsb. I havent even started school yet and i am already regretting my decison based on things ive read about ucla and its social life, atmosphere, academic challenges, etc. i dont know if its just because i am looking at the things i gave up from not choosing ucsb. Is this normal to feel this way or did i make the wrong decision?
Its normal to feel this way. It’ll go away after you stop thinking about it and have attended the school for a while.
What eiliant said. It is very normal
Alright thank you thats exactly what I wanted to year
Wait to go to the school before you make any major decisions. College is always one of those things that seems surreal and daunting before you actually go.
If it’s any consolation, I think the majority of people in California and on collegeconfidential would have picked UCLA over UCSB, just like you did.
Also be aware that any new experience usually involves feelings of anger, frustration, and confusion because you don’t know your way around, don’t feel comfortable, don’t know people, etc. In other words, EVERYTHING (every new job, every new school, every new house…) sucks at first. It’s your job to hang in there through this adjustment period. If you live nearby, you might want to spend some time wandering around the UCLA campus this summer so that you will already be familiar with it once classes start in the fall.
Start at UCLA, and if you really don’t like it, you can always transfer. It wouldn’t be that big a deal. It will probably work out though.
Don’t go into UCLA with the mentality of switching out, that is not what you want. Most people have regret in decisions like this, and they shouldn’t. Be excited, UCLA is a great school and you have a lot to gain there.
