PreMed 1credit course

What is the course name/number for the intro PreMed 1 credit course that Fr and Soph take?

It’s Bio 2651, a.k.a. MedPrep I, but you don’t register through WebSTAC. You register here: [The MedPrep Program | Preparing You for a Life in Medicine](http://medprep.wustl.edu/)

Definitely take it. I hear the professor is amazing.

Signed up. Looking forward to it.

Would taking this class along with some of the other typical freshman classes such as chemistry, calculus, and writing be a bad idea? I looked at the course description which stated that no outside course work or exams were required for this class, but that just looks too good to be true.

Also, for further information, my current schedule - it’s not official, but I have a draft on my registration worksheet - consists of 14 credit hours.

Looks too good to be true? It’s just a weekly lecture. No outside course work or exams. Simple as that.

14 credits isn’t a whole lot, anyway.

Heh, well, I never had a class back in high school that could simply be called a lecture.

There’s several one unit classes that simply require attendance. They’re usually pass/fail only. Many are graduate seminars.

It’s not a real class where you get a grade. It’s like PE. No reason why ‘it’s too good to be true’.

Alright. Thanks for explaining. Definitely would not have known about this type of class, so I’ll make sure to look for some that fit my interests to take later on.

MedPrep 1 is pass/fail. You pass if you have 100% attendance. Your schedule seems similar to mine. I had 17 credits but dropped an intro Phil course and picked up MedPrep. MedPrep’s goal is to give you exposure to PreMed so you can see if it interest you. The only problem - it is on Weds 3-5 along with all my other MWF classes (all Science, Calc & Writing courses are MWF). Seems like Wash U could have some TuTh options.

In case this information is helpful I thought I would add it.

My son’s advisor told him to hold off on MedPrep as a first semester freshman. Appearently, as a freshman you can’t shaddow which she said was one of the best aspects of the course. She suggested he take the class but do it down the road.

Not that he had much time to squeeze it in anyway with Calc 3, physics, chem and intro to biomedical plus a required one credit on line course :-/

I believe you only shadow in medprep2, which you would take later on.

In response to that ^

You can only shadow in MedPrepII, which one can only take as a sophomore or later. Thus you should certainly take MedPrep I as a freshman so that you can take MedPrep II as soon as you can and begin your shadowing ASAP.

Edit: cross posted with Marc.
