Premed advice for Freshman

Hi so I'm going to be majoring in Neuroscience, possible gonna change this major, but i am on the premed tract. Any advice for a freshman doing premed a Rutgers or just anywhere in general? Studying, MCAT, Extra-curriculars, etc.. Thank you so much!

Besides getting a good GPA, you should definitely start research early. This can range from assisting a grad student with his/her experiment/thesis or becoming a research assistant. You should look into the Aresty research center for undergraduates at Rutgers. Med schools love seeing involvement in activities like that.
Also, consider getting an internship with a hospital. Look at the Robert Wood Johnson med school page and they have a bunch of summer programs for prospective med students. Having that for maybe 2-3 years in addition to 2-3 years of research experience will make you a strong candidate. It helps a lot too if you apply to RWJ med school (honestly, which med school you get into isn’t too important; it’s all about the residency you get afterwards).
