Premed at Columbia

How difficult is it to be a premed at Columbia, given the intensive Core Curriculum requirements?

It seems it would be more conducive to majoring in the humanities, though this would then detract from being able to take more science courses, courses important for the MCAT as well as general knowledge in being a future physician.

Exactly how many courses does a premed take each semester, and how many of these are in the sciences? How successful are most Columbia premeds who apply normally (not doing a 5th year or other workarounds)?

Ill bumpppp this

One of my friends is at UC Davis Med school. He was a Biomed engineer from Columbia. He hated Columbia for pre-med. Said the grad students take your research spots and that the school isn’t took amazing because of the Core. He said he only went there because of New York.

The funny thing is that His older brother wanted Columbia, but he got Penn. This guy wanted Penn very badly and got Columbia. He tried to transfer to Penn but they didn’t accept him.

Its hard and grueling.
