PreMed at Emory

i am having a very difficult time deciding whether i should apply to emory or wash u edII. i would like to enroll in a premed curriculm at the college i enter next fall.

how is the premed track at Emory? does it prepare you well for medical school and the mcats. i have been leaning towards applying to emory because i have heard that grading at wash u can be very strict and severe. i am a good student but i know that any gpa lower than 3.8 will all but eliminate my chances at medical school placement after undergrad. how are grades handled at emory - specifically in science/premed courses? is there any grade inflation?

i consider emory and wash u to be equal in selectivity, prestige, etc. if i would be able to obtain a higher gpa at emory because their grading scale is in some way "easier", than that would be another reason to apply to emory over wash u. obviously being successful anywhere requires hardwork and dedication - which i am fully prepared to give. but i would like to go to the university that gives me the greatest chance to enter medical school after i have completed my undergraduate education.

any thoughts would be appreciated. thank you.

i would like to know this as well, but not in contrast to wash u, just in general emory's premed/biology/science program.

i think emory has the top rated premed undergraduate program as far as the rate of people being accepted into med school

First and foremost, Premed is not a major ( I didn't know that until I visited emory ) It is just a track that tells you which courses to take in order to be "med-school material"
Also, Emory Med school has an 3.8 AVERAGE GPA aceptees, which does not mean everyone had 3.8 or above.
I can't really say anything about WASHU other than that Emory's department of war is trying hard to create competition with WashU.

A 3.4 and above will probably get you into medical school.

Biology 141 (intro to bio) is boring and pointless if you already have taken AP biology (but AP bio gives credit for only BIO120)

Chemistry 171 is AMAZING

So far, I love emory. (A Chillax school for business/writing majors and hardcore for pre-meds [Just because pre-med has a lot more requirements])

any other ideas?
