My daughter was fortunate to get accepted to Stanford and USC with a Trustee Scholarship. Money is not a major issue, but she maybe interested in premed and high GPA is essential for medical school admissions. I think it might be harder to get a higher GPA in Stanford than in USC because of the tougher competition. She visited both universities and likes them both. Does the school prestige give her any edge in premed? Any advice?

Pre med courses at USC and Stanford are equally as hard to get an A . Do not think that USC is easier because it is not. She needs to go to the school which is the best match for her.

If her motivation doesn’t wane, your daughter will get into medical school with equal likelihood (and equal hard work) coming from Stanford or as a trustee scholar from USC. If 200k doesn’t factor in, send her where she thinks she’ll be happiest or perhaps where she’ll have the best “plan B” opportunities.
