I have narrowed my choice of schools down to Boston College and Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences (honors program at Rutgers). After visiting both campuses I find that I am very impressed with both schools, and both programs in terms of the sciences, specifically biology and chemistry.

My track is definitely going to be premed, so my ultimate choice should be the one that will best prepare me for success with med school apps/acceptance.

So I was wondering if anyone, including others considering these programs, or those who are in them, could give me some info to possibly weigh some of the pros and cons of each program.

As a side note, I would have to pay approx 12k at Rutgers as an instate student, and about 20k at BC out of state, so that cost difference would probably also play a role since debt should be avoided b4 something as expensive as med school.

Any input is GREATLY appreciated!

lol i guess no one wants to answer. in that case maybe someone can help me with this aspect: going to BC vs going to Rutgers SAS honors, the respective peer groups and “educational work environments” i will be in at each will differ. How different do you think it will be, and what advantages or disadvantages compare between living say, McCormick Honors Housing at Rutgers SAS, vs regular housing along with the other BC students, keeping in mind that the average students at BC will prob be still of a fairly high caliber (i think). Cuz sometimes I think that this competitiveness among the students is what got me where i am through high school and stuff…

I haven’t visited either schools, but would want to just give my 2-cents from what I read.
BC is a smaller LAC, so your class sizes will be lot smaller and you will get to know the profs better and hence get good recommendartions for med school.
Rutgers is known for beauracracy.
Getting into the class of our choice is also hard (have to rush to register I believe) in Rutgers. Don’t know about BC, but am just guessing it should be relatively smoother.
I heard that BC makes you take 2 theology courses. (may be a plus or minus based on your interest in religion)
Rutgers - has more party culture than BC.
Ethnically BC might be less diverse than Rutgers.
