Does anyone know any good websites that show statistics for certain types of majors when applying to med school? For example, the average acceptance rate into med school for english majors, biology majors, engineering majors, and so on. Thanks!

good question, i'm interested in this too :)

It doesn't matter what you major in, but around 30 to 50 % of Med Students are Biology Major...20-30 % are Physical Science major and the rest are "other" majors, which can be anything ie..arts, music, psychology, etc.

BTW, these stats are from US News Best Colleges in US Print Edition.

bump anyone?

So if I major in Physics it should work out if I take the right electives?

Yes. You can major in in Physics.

You can major in anything as long as you satisfy the basic med school course requirements which is usually 1 yr. intro bio, 1 yr. gen chem, 1 yr. intro physics, 1 yr. organic chem, and probably some calculus/math.

just wondering, if you do a double major - for me (bio and econ) - should it be mentioned to have done a double major or just one of them.

Thanks.

Why would you not mention it? I think it would be stupid not to. How could it hurt you in any way?

Yeah, why wouldn't you mention it?
