My son is a sophomore in high school. Does anyone know how to apply for the premed/med combined program? Will he have to write the MCAT in his senior year?We live in Connecticut. Anyone know about colleges in my state. What about the Ivy League schools?Could anyone tell me more about how to apply to Ivy Leagues?

Here is a CC thread that discusses shortened med school programs.

It’s way, way early to be thinking about med school for a high school sophomore. He should focus on solid academics for now (math, science, English, take Spanish if he can). He should try to do volunteer work, not necessarily medical related, but any caring type of volunteer work with people. Leadership within groups is good. That is the foundation he needs for college work.

It’s not clear what you are asking about colleges. Undergrad colleges in your state? Ivy League colleges for undergrad or for med school?

Many people feel that any acceleration in the med school process is not a good idea. Med school students need the full background of their undergrad years to prepare for the tough years of med school. No need to hurry…it’s a long, long road.

There is a premed section here:
