hi, I was just wondering if the bio requirement for premed must be met with BIO G 101/103 or can I just take Intro BIO G 105? The BIO G 101/103 class seems to be a premed weedout class, and looks to be harder than BIO G 105. Can you take BIOG 105 to meet the premed requirement and/or what if Intro Bio G 105 is easier then why doesn't every premed just take that class then?

for premed you have to take bio 101-104 or bio 105-106 or bio 107-108. There's really no significant diffrence between either three. The 101-104 sequence is usually the traditional lecture style class. The bio 105-106 is the autotutorial class. The general consensus is that bio 105-106 requires really tight time management. the Bio 107-109 is the summer session.

i don't know where you got the idea that one bio 101-104 is harder than bio 105.

I would suggest avoiding autotutorial classes unless you absolutely have to take them.

Median in bio 101 was a B- while median in bio 105 was a B so it was not significantly easier.

Bio 101 harder??! Heck no! the 105-106 autotutorial sequence is way more work! Expect weekly quizzes, 4 hour long labs either during weekends or evenings, and 2 really tricky "practicals" (i.e. looking at a dead animal and trying to name that part, then coming up with anaologous parts on other related animals). And as far as I know, the mean was a B-, not B this year (yes, I took that devil course!).

I don't think Bio 105-106 is more work than Bio 101-104.

1) There's weekly quizzes in Bio 102/104 labs too and occasional large test/quizzes
2) There's online quizzes for the Bio 101/103 lecture courses every 1-2 weeks which are really hard and damn tricky.
3) There are those things called prelims in the traditional bio course...
4) The B- median. I don't know what the median for the 105-106 course was last year but in 2004, it was a B according to median grade reports
5) Try identifying frog parts when there's 20 pins stuck through a 4cm long frog

I think the general conclusion is that you're screwed either way. Have fun freshmen!

wut should i take if i hate doing Labs?

Bio 101 and 103 without 102/104. But if you are premed, you must take an intro bio course w/ lab.
