<p>I really like Brown University and am even considering applying here ED, but this is a concern I’ve had from the day one of thinking about this school: Brown’s open curriculum and lack of minus grades are a few of the school’s more “experimental” approaches. Do grad schools, especially medical schools, take Brown grads as seriously as applicants from more “traditional” colleges like Stanford, Princeton, Penn, Cornell, etc.? Would there be any advantage to going to a university with a more old-fashioned approach to education, like a different Ivy or a state school as far as grad-school admissions committees are concerned? If anybody has any success stories of Brownies going to Harvard or Johns Hopkins, or horror stories of 4.0 Brownies getting rejected across the board, please share.</p>

<p>edit: just to be clear, I know about PLME, I’m more interested in how non-PLME premeds do</p>

<p>Brown's lack of minus grades and pass/fail and open curriculum aren't "experimental"... They've been tried and tested from the 60's through today, from what I've been told, and they seem to be holding their own pretty well as an awesome school hehe...</p>

<p>Ummm... Brown's undergrad has one of the highest percent of being accepted into med school.</p>

<p>no, med school adcoms hate brown. because you know, they all have huge sheets with specific information on every school in the country, and have them ranked 1-2000 in order of preference and with a curve to adjust each school's gpa</p>

<p>elpope, you can't make comments like that, many pre-meds (especially the kinds who post on CC about med school process things) will believe you 100%</p>
