What are the pros and cons of each? Social scene is important to me, but which one will better prepare me for and get me into medical school?

I was hearing a lot of Princeton from another forum. Any Penn supports in the house?

I got into Penn , and I am interested in pre-med as well.
what is your declared major at Penn?

for Penn, it does have a lot of research going on--one of the largest spenders; it also has a medical school.

I don't know if going to Penn as an undergrad will make you look better when you apply for med school though.

Princeton's grad placement + undergrad focus + social life + overall reputation is hard to beat.

true. Also, the campus is nice. I heard that UPenn's is kind of urban

I actually wish Princeton was more urban and had a great college town, but =/.

I think the biggest factors Penn's got against Princeton are:
-they have a med school
-urban, Philadelphia
-I heard they're more "social", which makes sense because they have a city with nightlife.

The existence of a med school actually doesn't mean much. You aren't going to find higher rates of Penn Undergrads than Princeton undergrads at Penn med. Also most research at the undergrad level is within departments like biology and chemistry (often through a thesis). That's why it doesn't matter whether you go to a LAC or a big research university.

Actually urban campuses tend to be less social. Columbia is probably the least social Ivy. When Penn is referred to as "social" its because of the active frat/ house party scene. Princeton is arguably just as social and its more tightknit.

In my opinion this is an easy choice.

The conventional wisdom, such as it is, will be Princeton. However, you can do well in pre-med at either school, and you really should visit both with an eye toward determining which one feels like a better fit for YOU.

it is crucial for premeds to get clinical experience. if both places provide that, that princeton is really the place to go since its well princeton

At the same time, I'd say Penn.
You'd be more at the top of your class there. People at princeton are nerdy (although they try their best not to look it) and the social seen there is dull... except for the exclusive eating clubs at which it is almost impossible to get a party pass for during your first and second year.

Thank you allllll for your inputs!

princeton's pre-med program is very very intense, as the grade deflation makes it so everyone is competing for A's...friends there have told me its very cutthroat and competitive (nottt cool)...however, i'm thinking about going there for pre-med too, so we'll see...i mean, it is princeton...but that might be the problem, like don't be fooled by the prestige of a name

and as far as social scene goes, i haven't heard the greatest of things about the school, but i'm sure you can find stuff...but how much stuff can you do if you are competing for grades 24/7?

those are just some questions that have come to my mind...
