Premed Transfer

I'm currently a rising premed sophomore, Biochem, International Studies double major at Boston College and I'm considering transferring to another school. I am in the honors program, hope to apply to Medical School and I have a GPA of 3.945 after the first year. If I were to transfer for the spring semester 2014, I would probably go to Cornell because it's one of the few schools that I'm looking at that accepts students for the spring semester. If I do this, it would likely open up the possibility to study abroad for a semester which I cannot currently do as a course intensive double major. The hope with this plan is to get involved in on campus clubs and research before junior year so that by the end of junior year, I will have had substantial contact with faculty so that they will be comfortable to write letters of recommendation for medical school so I can apply to matriculate immediately after undergrad. If I were to wait until fall 2014, it would open up the possibility to apply to a few other schools that I'm interested in like Columbia, but I'm concerned that waiting until then would limit the time I would have to get to know faculty and would preclude the possibility of going abroad.

If anyone has any thoughts on this subject, I would appreciate it.
Thank you
