Premed

Does it really matter how prestigious your undergrad school is if you're going to medical school? I mean, what's the difference between going to Harvard medical school or getting your requirements at, say, Carleton of UChicago? I know the top premed schools have more cutthroat premeds, but can you do just as well at one not as premed-oriented? What should you look for in a college to make sure it's conducive to your medical ambitions? And yes, right now I am interested in Carleton and UChicago, but am wondering what makes schools like JHU better for premed. I know I don't want to commit suicide due to the pressure, but I also want to have a good background and be able to make it to a good medical school.

look for med school acceptance rates above national average

Look for places where you can excel. If you do that, everything else will fall right into place.

Thanks mini. Where do you find medical acceptance rates?

also ask on premed thread

often asked question...mini is correct...excel and you'll be ok. Don't worry about whether or not a given school enhances your chances.
