if i wanna do premed, which UC major do i put??? biochem? genetics?? molecular biology?? which will give me less competition?

Please rephrase your question - what are you talking about?

Are you wanting to know what you should major in for undergraduate school? (the answer is anything that you want and will do well in as long as you also take the premed requirements of one year biology w/lab, two years chemistry w/labs, and one year physics w/lab and of course one year English and probably one semester at least of calculus).

ok so i can pretty much put down biochem or w.e as my major for the UC app, and then just make sure i do the required courses for premed?

Yes, you can have any major you want: music, art, literature, political science, chemistry, biology, etc.... as long as you have also taken all premed classes. Also make sure that you get some good premed advisement because you will need to work in volunteer hours (anything working with the public - as in work that puts you with a diverse group of people - they want to know that you know what working w/the general public is like. Volunteering could be at a hospital or clinic but it doesn't have to be). Also research opportunities (in a science field or at least psychology - to learn the research process). And they want you to have had exposure to the medical field (a part time job at a hospital or clinic or shadowing a physican - or both).

These are time consuming activities, so you want to plan your summers accordingly.

To get in to med school they will look at all of these things, but your GPA and MCAT scores will be the most important. You might want to visit the premed board for more info.
