Premed?

Do you really need to be in premed to go to medical school?

You have to fulfill pre-med requirements, but no, your major doesn't have to be pre-med.

Most schools do not have an actual major called Pre-medicine. The premed requirements are so few that it wouldn't constitute a major for a Bachelors: Gen Bio I/II, Gen Chem I/II, Organic Chem I/II, General Physics I/II --> all with labs, plus one more upper level bio class.

"Premed" is anybody who takes the aforementioned courses and plans to apply to medical school. So in that sense, yes.
