Premeds - Take EEB 211 or take AP credit

I am considering going premed and scored a 5 on my Biology AP exam. Do most premeds in this situation pass out of EEB 211 and take another EEB course using their AP credit or do most simply take EEB 211 since they think they will probably do well in the course and receive a good grade?

Thanks in advance.

PASS out of it. I heard it’s a lame class.

I took Mol 214 and Genetics (Mol 342). I think I might also take another bio class next spring.

Most premeds are grade-mongering types, so they opt to take the easier class unnecessarily so as to receive a good grade.

But you’re not going to be a grade-mongering premed, right? That’s certainly not why you asked this question.

Real advice: try your hand at MOL 215.

Avoid EEB 211 if you can pass out of it. It’s totally useless (you don’t learn anything) and the labs eat away at your soul.

Easy classes are hard to get good grades in, from my experience. A majority of my A’s come from more difficult courses where more A’s were handed out and fewer people were as good at the subject as I was.

Thank you for the advice. I really am seriously considering MOL 215 but heard from a rising sophomore that only one freshman took the course last year. I did get a 5 on my Biology AP exam and am not concerned about getting a B if I learn a lot from the course. I just don’t want to get blown out of the water my first semester at Princeton by getting a C or D because I am possibly considering premed. If I put in a large amount of time and effort into the course would it be difficult to get below a B?

Thanks for all the great advice.

I’m pretty sure closer to 20 freshman take the class. And that’s about half of the class.

I am pretty sure I want to go the premed route. But i’m not the cutthroat competitive type of guy (or at least I don’t want to be), is it right for me?
