I was really considering doing POST but I don't know if it's worth missing out on a week of my last summer before college especially since my birthday falls during the preorientation schedule. I don't know though, do you think it's worth it?

If you’re from the USA, waste of time. Otherwise, it might be worth your while.

Haha… good to know… Thanks fallenmerc!

Hmm… I guess I have to add one more comment for students from the USA:

If you’ve never been away from home, might be worth your while to get that extra week in away from home.

I disagree and totally think POST is worth it. I missed the deadline and really regret not having done it. Many of my friends made solid friends through POST that lasted the year.

@fallenmerc: With that “if you’re from the USA” comment, I’m not sure if you’re confusing it with PREPARE, but you’re right about the extra week at home.

Far too many freshmen from the US will be living away from home for the first time and in spite of their protestations to the contrary, many of them end up feeling homesick very soon. There’ll be no lack of service opportunities in the Ithaca area during the academic term nor will you find it hard meeting other freshmen - in fact, you’ll meet more of them than you’d care to - but the time you spend with your family (or at least the manner in which you spend that time) isn’t going to last much longer. I’d take that week. That said, get in touch with the folks who run POST or others who’ve been through it in recent years and see if you like what you hear.

o noes… I was thinking about PREPARE. Ignore my previous comments please lol.
