Prep classes for PSAT

Hi All - Looks like all of you are super smart here :)
My son is going to 10th grade next year. Do you think it is better to go for prep classes (princeton or testmasters) this summer or should we wait until 10th grade summer? Please help....confused mom & son..:) He is planning to take PSAT next year.

The Sophomore PSAT score doesn’t count for anything.

Thanks for the quick response.

No problem. If you are adamant in your decision to send your son to a PSAT Prep class, I suggest doing it in the summer before his Junior Year. Personally, I’d suggest purchasing the Official College Board SAT Blue Book and let him prepare for the test by himself. Most higher scoring students agree that Prep Classes are largely a waste of money/time.

Jersey nailed it. BB easily outdoes any prep class. My junior PSAT in a few months will be a breeze because of the work I did with BB in my SAT prep work for the SAT May 1st. Don’t even bother with silly prep classes, PSAT or SAT.

^Agreed. Prep classes are no better than prep books unless your son is unmotivated to study on his own.

Even then, prep classes won’t accomplish much if you’re unmotivated. Except incentives…

Just leave him be. The 10th grade PSAT doesn’t count for anything anywhere at all. Let him take it cold.
