Prep for AP Computer Science

I'm taking AP Computer Science as a class in school this year. The textbook we use in class is called "Java Methods A & AB" by Litvin. (My teacher still uses this book even though the AB test is discontinued...)

I also have the latest Barron's AP Computer Science A Prep Book and the "Head First Java" book.

Now, here is my question: How can I prepare for the AP Exam from the beginning of the school year so that I don't have to wait until April/May to start studying?

Simple, just learn the Syntax & Structure/Logic. I easily got a 4 on the preAP tests just by knowing that alone. But thats because I’m good at guessing.

My teacher used to reference Litvin some. The Barron’s book should be sufficient for preparing for the test. As you learn material in class, I would recommend looking at the Barron’s book and answering the questions at the end of the chapter regarding what you have just learned. Once you start learning about classes and objects, look over the case study. Make sure you have the program on the computer and you can observe it. CB provides a workbook type of thing to go along with it, so I’d recommend doing the activities, such as modifying the program. The only way to get better at CS is to program. Just reading a textbook isn’t going to cut it.
