I want to take the AP Music Theory class at my high school in senior year (I’m a freshman right now). I have very little experience with music. I took a beginning piano class last summer and will take the continuation class this summer. Let’s just say I am not the best. I am willing to work hard to prepare for the AP class because I know many people will come in with years of experience. Is it possible to prepare by senior year? What should I focus on? Are there any good books? My summer piano class uses “Fundamentals of Piano Theory”. There are ten levels. Right now I’ve done 2. How many do you think I would need to do to be on par with the AP Music Theory class at the beginning of senior year? Thank you so much!
