So, I got accepted into Tabor and I have a couple easy answer questions. When I was trying to find if you could have TV there I saw that it said you CAN have gaming systems, but not TVs. This doesn't make much since to me. Also how many hours of relaxation time is there in an average day. Lastly, what do you do if you are sick, and if you feel like sleeping in or anything, is it possible?. Right now I sleep in way too much and get to school a little late. I guess that's what happens when you get driven every day. Thanks

I suggest leaving the gaming system at home. You probably will get your work done quicker, get to bed earlier and then won’t have to sleep in. :)

TV not allowed? That’s why they invented large computer monitors. ;)

haha yeah I was thinking the same thing about the computer monitor. thanks

Hey,

Congrats on Tabor! I can answer those questions for you.

While you can’t have TVs in your dorm room, there are TVs in every dorm’s common room so you can hook it up to that TV and play it there when not in study hall or during the academic day (for underclassmen.) And yeah, a lot of people do bring monitors to watch movies on and play games on, I don’t know if they’ve changed their policies on that but when I was there it was just getting to be a popular thing for people to do.

And your relaxation really depends on your schedule. The normal schedule is 8-3 (half days on Wednesday and when there are Saturday classes, and counting in whatever free periods you have) Then sports usually run from 3:30 to around 4:30-5:30 based on the sport and level. Then it’s whenever you grab dinner and what you choose to do until study hall from 7:30-9:30. After study hall you can leave the dorms until 10:15 (on weeknights) and then as an underclassmen have lights out around 11 or so, but obviously you can stay up if you have work or something else. Approaching senior year you get more and more freedom and more free time. It is boarding school though, so a lot of time is structured, but you’re surrounded by your friends so it doesn’t feel like you’re just a machine cranking out work and such.

And if you’re sick then you can go to the health center and they can excuse you from class. If you just sleep in you’ll get a slip for missing class but if you go to the health center they can sign you off and you can get a little more sleep, that is if you can convince the nurses to let you stay.

Again congrats! Hope this helped.
