Ptribecca.......Your figure is incorrect for five year matric numbers.

Ptrbecca thanks for the comment...........Over the last five years matric the ivie matrics is 24%, you are correct I said 26%, this came from ivie/ stanford/Mit 26%, I hope that clears up my exageration. I believe your number comes from one year. My post that I believe you are referring to talks of five year, not one year.

Prepparent,

According to the Middlesex website, over the past 5 years Middlesex has sent 99 students to the ivies. At approximately 100 graduates per year, the percentage is obviously 20 percent.

Can someone please post the prep school rankings based on Ivy League (+ Stanford and MIT) matriculation rates? It's done by prepreview.com.

Thank you.

Ptribecca, you are correct for the current 5 year period (99). Where you may have your numbers off are on the number of grads. This year was 95, however the previous 5 years there were a total of 415 grads over a five year period and 105 matric to the ivies. You are incorrect on the number of grads, that would be 419 or maybe 420 with 99 ivies matrics. I hope that clears my number up.

davida1, I have the prepreview numbers at my office, however, they were from last year, and they were not exactly acurate at that.

Ptribeca,

I was able to locate two Middlesex profiles, I Have others but was unable to locate. I will locate all the numbers for you. In 2004 there were 84 grads, in 2005 there were 80 grads. My recollection is that the highest number of grads in any one year was 89 on one occassion. There was one maybe two years that had the numbers of grads in the high 70's. I hope that clears some of our number differences. In 2004 the ivie matric was 26/84. I do not have the 2005 specific numbers but, they were lower than '04 and higher than or equal to 24%.

2001-2005 Middlesex ivie matrics
Brown 33
Harvard 24
Cornell 21
Penn 10
Dartmouth 6
Columbia 5
Yale 4
Princeton 2
105/415= 25%
ivie/MIT/Stanford= 113/415= 27% This number is the number that I may have used because of the prepreview stats. They include MIT and Stanford with the ivies. In the last six years the closest MX has approached 100 grads in a year was this year (95). However, prior to this years class, the grads per year have NOT been approx. 100.

Prepparent,

According to the Middlesex profile on their website there were 94 graduates in the Class of 2005. Where are you getting the figure of 80 from?

It seems like she's trying to sugarcoat the Middlesex college matriculation. This is CC! You can't lie! You'll get caught. lol.

2002-2006 Middlesex matrics

2005-06 profile

says present enrollment is 341 with 94 in senior class- i.e. class of 06

and

80 seniors in 2005

Check your facts before calling someone a liar.

Excuse me, I will not allow my character to be &(&((^&, afan is correct, my NUMBERS ARE CORRECT! I recieve the school profile each year. It has each years graduating numbers as well as the senior class numbers, along with each graduating senior school of matric.
JK, if you have read the many CC threads on prep schools you would know Iam a male. I do not lie, and my numbers are correct!
Ptribecca, with all due respect, my numbers are correct, yours are not........
I would have thought that my last response would suffice, apparently it has not. I will not assume that you may think I'm a "liar", however, I can only wonder why you would continue to question my numbers like I'm some fool !Now we can go back and forth, but, the number will not change. If you so choose you can also purchase the last five years of "Peterson's Giude to Independent School". With the exception of one year, they have the numbers correct on MX.

Jonathank, by the way, I do not need to surgarcoat anything with regard to MX. I also understand that with some kids your age ( of which you may be one) make unwarranted assumptions, however, to call someone a "liar" is not appropriate in my opinion. JK, again, I wish you well with your upcomming bs apps.

Yes, I do jump to conclusions a little too fast. I apologize.

Jonathan K, even us "older" guys jump to conclusions. Look, no blood, no harm, no foul. If we are going to make these blunders, better here than at the interview. JK, I wish you well and hope you find the school that's best for you and you alone.

Thank you.

Davida 1, Here is the prepreview you were requesting. Caution: these numbers shown on this chart are outdated and have not changed in at least 3-4 years. I have updated some of the school which Ill note here. The info is quite accurate; I have used a number of resources, including Petersons Independent school books, Web sites, and current view books ( 04-05 and 05-06). In some cases I used 4 year numbers instead of 5 year. In Deerfields case I used 5 year matric numbers with 4 year grad numbers. In this case I took an average of the 4 years to get the 5th year number. In the case of St. Pauls I had all the ivies with 10 or more matrics. Columbia did not have at least 10 matrics so I assumed 9 matrics for Columbia. It may have been 0 or 1 and as high as 9. I chose 9 . Also note that Nobles is really a day school.

Is that the top 30 American Boarding Schools?

Does anyone know the global top 50? That would be interesting.

Yes, it would.

Eton and Harrow would probably be in the top.

Someone post the Global Rankings!

No, there are no official rankings; I don't know how one would devise a methodology of ranking boarding schools. There are general notions of prestige and reputation out there, however.
