i think it says something about the prep review rankings that you have to pay $50 to see them... ranking is a waste

Acerockola is correct, and I agree with collegedropout. It would be so very difficult to rank schools. There are too many variables and each prospective student has their own unique guidlines and ideas of what constitutes a top school. However, it does give us reason for comment/observation. We probably would admit that the CC threads on prep schools, seem to judge prep schools on their ivy admits. Something I noticed with regard to Hotchkiss.......although they have like 19% ivy matrics, the LAC matrics are very, very good. Someone commented earlier that maybe the smaller schools tend toward the LAC's. imo, Hotchkiss has certainly done a good job. I realize H is not small, it's not big either.

I can/will post the top 50 global, but, again the numbers on the American schools are not quite accurate.

prepparent: I was wondering if you had the SAT rankings found on prepreview as well? If you do don't feel pressured to post them immediately, I can see how it would be a bit of a hassle to type all that up. Thanks for the previous posts!

Thanks, prepparent. I'll take a better look at those later when I have more time.

what would you think were some top private day schools??

xGODS if you'll look at the USA boarding school rankings, you'll see the SAT ave. Of course, as you may know they are not reliable. The scores for most/all have changed.

KayaKmom, there are many top private day schools. What State, what city? Example, in SA texas we have two very good private day schools. St. Mary's Hall and TMI. In NYC there are probably two on every block, exageration? yes, but you get the point

xGods_favoritex, the boarding school review site has reliable SAT numbers for all/most schools. Reading various books on admissions, it appears the difference between, say a 1310 and 1360 is not really different at all. I believe the "fiske guide" states the difference of 50 -60 ponits on the SAT is not a big deal.

Thanks, yeah I looked at that site for some boarding school numbers I had issues finding. The reason I asked was to compare some day schools as well, with harder to find numbers but it shouldn't be a big deal. Thanks for your help.

To be honest I find that British Boarding Schools are much overated when compared to the likes of the New England Boarding Schools. In my opinion it would be fair to say the top 10-20 could ALL be American boarding schools.

maryland is the state and i live near annapolis , about 45 min from baltimore and at least 1 hour form d.c.

A good source for both day and boarding information on schools is Peterson's. You can go to http://www.petersons.com/pschools/code/psector.asp?path=hs.fas.private
and do a search. SAT scores are generally in "Student Snapshot." Some schools do not provide the info, so you will not find it for every school. You can also purchase the guide hardcopy.

Damn, Hill's not even ranked? lol we suck

Hill is a great school! There are a number of schools that fall into the 10% Ivy category (or perhaps just below it) that are not on the list.

I think we just had a really good year with the class of 05 and a decent ok year with 06. But next year's class is going to be HORRENDOUS!

How do you know that?

Lol....I go to teh school, how wouldn't I know. Asking aronud friends where they're going, and just knowning that some of the people in class of 07 only came to this school because of money/reputation and not for the academics....
