Hi, I know that i do not have the academics to get into west point for 2010. (2.8, 670math 580v). I really slacked off my freshman year and it really killed my GPA. My grades have been continuously rising and will continue to do so. I play varsity hockey and have been interning at my congressman's office as well as many other activities.

What are the chances of being admited into a prep school program? Or being admitted after 2 years of civilian collage and ROTC? I really want to go to WP.

I would say to check out one of the military colleges like the Citadel or VMI where you can take part in a strong ROTC program and get used to the cadet life. Then, if you think that West Point is still the place for you ...you'll be ahead of the game...that is if you don't get into the prep school. Right now I am at The Citadel and I have an appointment for the class of 2009. Always remeber to just never give up shooting for your dreams. Good Luck.

thanks for the encouragement. I think I will end up at Valley Forge because it is close to my house (NJ). I am just worried that I will spend 2 years there and still not get into West Point even if I get good grades.

well, another option is virginia tech or Texas A&M that have Corps of Cadets. they're considered senior military colleges. So if you do the Corps there, you will have priority over which branch you want, over other ROTC cadets. Plus, you will graduate with a degree from a 4-year college.

I wouldn't count of the prep school. USMAPS is almost always (not always...Almost always) reserved for people from the enlisted ranks trying to get commission through WP, or recruited athletes. There's another program call the civil prep program, or the AOG scholarship program, but this is awarded to the top 60 kids who barely missed the cut. USMAPS gives you a 99% assurance of your acceptance, while the civil prep school give you about an 80~90% assurance.

VT and Texas A&M are great options for people who probably won't get into WP but still would like to have a cadet/military lifestyle

From personal experience, you do not want to go to Valley Forge. The AOG for West Point uses Marion Military, Wentworth and New Mex. Mil. Choose one of those.
