My interview is this weekend, and I understand it's a 30 min. alum interview while your parents attend an info session.
I'm just curious... what kind of questions do they ask you? How prepared and in what areas should you go in with? Also, how should you dress?
I know some schools like to ask why the candidate is a good match for the school... I know generally why I want to go to Northwestern, but do I have to go into specific details?
Any insight would be much appreciated,
Thanks!

For my ED interview I met an alum at Starbucks. She was really great and the whole thing was really informal. We mostly just talked about the things I like to do, and I asked her a few questions about NU. There was no info session kind of thing though, and my parents were not there. I just wore khakis and a sweater and pearls : ) but I am pretty sure she had just come from the gym. You could tell that she just mostly wanted to get a feel for my personality. I was really busy at the time with an internship I was doing so we mostly talked about that. We talked for so long that I actually had to cut it short after over an hour because I had to get back to work! I'd say def. do not prepare for it because it is really a nice, casual thing! I really think the interview helped me get in. Good luck!!!

when is the deadline for alumni interviews? as in, by when should i contact one?

thanks

Would wearing jeans and a dress shirt (tucked in) be ok? That's what I wear for all "casual" settings apart from my own social events.

my interview last year was scheduled in a group, we all went somewhere together (about 10) and then we were peeled away from the group to talk to the interviewers (there were also 10).

in terms of the interview, know what your major is, a little bit about why you're interested in it. Those were probably the bigger questions

For dress code, as i said, we went in in a group so if you're the shabbiest looking one that might not be too good. it depends. I'd say wear slacks and a dress shirt and a belt and you should be okay

I've heard people (perhaps not from NU) go into the interview with a resume type thing... is that a good idea?

i just scheduled my interview, was told that if i had one to bring a resume, also he asked me what i was interested in/what school i applied to, i said humanities and he said if it was math and science he woudl try to find me another interviewer (good thing? i dk)... im interviewing at his law firm, so im dressin fairly decent... slacks, belt, nice sweater probably

Crouton-you spoke to your interviewer beforehand? I thought that the only way to have an interview was to sign up on the website and meet them at the allocated building.

With such a formal system of interviews, are interviews weighed heavier at NU then other schools?
