Preparatory material

I got a 24 on my first act test (APRIL 2015 73G), no practice whatsoever, straight A student since 7th grade. I feel like i didn’t have a clue what i was doing on science that day, math was my highest, reading and english seemed to go good but i ended up doing not so well.

Im preparing for the September 2015 ACT. I just started 11th grade.

I’ve read through ACT BLACK BOOK (except ACT WRITING, until next test) and was really surprised and intrigued from the information i learned. I have about 3 1/2 good weeks until the act (from today). At first i was planning to take each section of the test not timed and practice taking the test like the book taught me to, but then i realized the longer i took the more fried my brain got. So my plan now is each weekday to reread the book(trying to deepen and solidify my understanding of the act) and each day to attack one question (from QOTD(Question of the Day) on the ACT WEBSITE). Then each weekend (3 practice tests until real one in September) i would take a practice test on saturday at 8am, then after i would write what i thought went wrong. Sunday or something during the weekday i would go through each of my mistakes, trying to understand what went wrong and why the act would include that answer choice for me to choose, and attempt to figure out a solution to the problem/mistake.

I was wondering what your thoughts are on this approach.

I plan on to hit a 35-36 (preferrably a 36) before senior year december.

It’s a very good strategy. I would mainly focus on just doing lots of lots of practice. Science is everyone’s least favorite (probably) so it’s fine. It’ll get easier and better though. Now you know what to expect and what to work on. At the rate your going your doing just fine. And some ACTs will be easier than others, but this is just totally based on your opinion. Some questions you might look at and be like hey I know this! And others taking the test will be like whaaatttt? So sounds like the ACT you took just might not be “your ACT”, but don’t fret! Especially since youre not even a junior yet! Best of luck
