How do you prepare for it?
Is the artofproblemsolving class worth it?

If it is, should I self study for the AMC 12 this October and November then take the AIME class during Dec?

The AoPS books might be worth your time.

I don’t care anymore lol. I think I’ll go in, perhaps advance to AIME, and bank on luck the rest of the way through. Hooray senior year!

Aops would probably be the best way

basically, look through the problems on the forum if you want to be lax about it.

Personally, I self-study about an hour and a half a day with the books (my schedule is pretty random, so a class wouldn’t be good for me). Old practice tests from AoPSwiki help, too.

And if you’re just dying to make USAMO? Work through/understand aops intro volume 1 and 2 (though you probably know most of what is in 1 by 11th/12th grade), then maybe intermediate algebra and Intermediate counting and probability. if that’s not enough for you in the books department, try a contest problem book. do woot or another class if you have time, and remember to take practice tests every once in a while to keep on track with what material is actually going to be on there. Dont over-prepare for the AMC12, though; keep in mind that you’ll be doing AIME as well if you make it.

Alcumus online (from Aops) is entertaining and free (if you rate problems and keep your karma up). The USSR Olympiad Problem Book is cheap and excellent. The Canadian version of the AMC has some good resources:
[CEMC - Preparation - Mathematics Contests - University of Waterloo](CEMC - Preparation - Mathematics Contests - University of Waterloo)

Just do practice problems on the AoPS forum and maybe get the Volume I book for AMC 12 and Volume II for AIME. AMC 12 100+ is not too hard, just answer first 14 questions or so and leave rest blank.

@tomjonesistheman I think it’s 17 questions to get 100 pts

@dynamo17 ok i think ill get vol2

but i never took the AMC 12, but currently I could get to question 15 with no problem, then it gets hard. Would just doing practice problems for the AMC 12 with the Vol.2 and other supplement books from today till the AMC 12 test get me pass AIME?

Yes.

Or you can just devour David Yang and assimilate him.

get a good night’s sleep and take fish oil
