Prepare for Pre-Calc

Good day friends :). I'm currently taking an Honors Alg. II class on FLVS and will then take Pre-AP (Honors) Pre-Calc as sophomore. However, I'm not sure I'll finish by the start of the school year (which is in about one week!). Just wondering, what are some topics I should glance at to make sure I'm prepared for the first few weeks of Pre-Calc.

I’m actually taking pre-cal online right now, so hopefully I can give you some useful advice!

First off, do not be stressed. If you have a history of doing well in previous math classes, pre-cal shouldn’t be a problem. One thing to consider is whether or not your current Alg II class covers Trig or not. My algebra II class didn’t cover trig, so I’m currently taking pre-cal along with trig. I do know however classmates from different schools who have taken trig with Alg II, so I guess it depends what your personal class structure was like.

As for algebra topics, I would just go over the basics: logs, functions, graphing, etc. Pre-cal essentially is a deeper look into algebra to prepare for AP calculus.

Good luck!

I’m actually wondering the same thing.

Well, there is no trig in the class I’m taking right now, but I’ve learned some trig with khan academy over the summer :). Hopefully I’ll at least get to logarithms before Pre-Calc. Should I go over conics? Thanks for the help :).

For me, pre-calc was the easiest math class I had ever taken. If you have a decent teacher, you won’t need any review. It’s pretty much just the topics you cover in trig plus a tiny bit extra (not really, some of the sections were monumentally easier).
