<p>While you don't really need to worry about anything yet, it is a good idea to get involved in ECs soon. Colleges like comittment and leadership, so it's really best to join clubs and such freshman year. There are usually plenty of things to do besides sports. I'm not sure how your school does clubs, but look around as soon as school starts. As for volunteering, don't volunteer simply because you need ECs and it "doesn't sound too bad." There are other things to do and you should never do it simply because it looks good. If it actually interests you, go ahead. As for academics, you don't need to focus on your major or anything now. Just work hard, and take challenging classes. Those above are right in that you should relax a bit and not worry much, but it's a good idea to join some activities and not slack off in school. There are lots of people who are juniors and seniors who realize too late that they haven't been involved. I knew to join stuff early, but a few of the clubs just kind of fell apart, so I'm kinda stuck now. And academically, there are lots of people who say that they didn't realize it mattered so much frosh or soph, and then get 4.0s junior year, and are rejected from top schools because of bad soph grades.</p>

No it's not a good or healthy thing. I'm not going to plan out my whole college schedule for the next 4 years or whatever. I'm going to go it by each semester at a time.

Yes, I agree with you. There are so many surprises, nobody can predict what will be offered. For example, until last week I was strongly assured that I will do Dual Enrollment and even (!!!) wrote down classes I will have in 11th grade. However, spark hitted my brain and I found IB program. And? I am assured about my IB schedule just as much as I was about Dual Enrollment. Haha. What a naive sophomore I am.
The only thing you really should think at this, very early point is about being flexible. Already start on grad. requirements so you can change classes in anyway you need.
As to my 9th grade, my schedule was changing about 7 times, I transferred from academy to academy and thanks God, that helped me in a such a brilliant way. Trust me, I wouldn't able to take Chemistry and Biology in one year without miracle, and it happened!
Even the one class that I hated the most -- ESL (which was a mistake from school), is helping me now to get into AP Lang/USH in Sophomore. And I am not 50% sure what my Soph schedule will be like.
So, chillax and do what you like. Look for other opportunities, be open, it is not bad to jump from Physics major to African studies as long as it's interesting to you.</p>
<p>indiasfinest, i do think that you're freaking out about this a little too early.</p>
<p>BUT bearsforlife, just because someone has a different philosophy then you do doesn't make theirs "moronic"</p>
<p>No freshman knows what his major is gonna be, most freshmen don't even know what they want in life, any of them that is willing to say that they do are talking out of their ass.</p>
<p>alright, i guess i will worry bout it later, but as for the idiot who said i could take AP cal. AB and BC in the same year, i can, i already asked the high school counsler, you can take AB first semester and BC second semster,</p>
<p>Dont worry about anything just keep your grades high and enjoy life and being a kid geez</p>
