Does studying for Math Level 2 get you prepared for Math Level 1 also?

The reason I'm asking this is because I only have access to the Barron's Math Level 2 prep book, but I'm still taking the Math Level 1 test.

What do you plan to study & why are you taking the Math 1 test? My S did MUCH better on Math 2 than Math 1–they cover different topics & the curve is much more generous on the Math 2 test. It is expected for people who will be studying math/science. S only found that out after he had taken the Math 1 test, so he had to take the math 2 instead & did much better. He went into engineering.

I just need some subject test scores to get into my college. It doesn’t matter which subject I take, so I’m taking what I could manage. I’m taking Biology along with Math (Still undecided on if I should take both or just 1.)

Does the two math tests cover different areas?

Yes, look at good subject matter books about the SAT II tests and you can see by the table of contents that the tests cover different materials. The Math 2 test covers mostly pre-calculus. Not sure what the Math 1 covers.

What do you plan to study. IF you plan to go into math/science/tech, you will be expected to take Math 2 & they would ignore your Math 1 score anyway. After S had already taken the Math 1 test, the HS counselor asked him why he had taken it as most schools aren’t all that interested in student results from that exam.

Ask your counselor if it would be good for you to also taken a social studies SAT subject test. I believe S too US history. Your HS counselor should be able to help guide you so you don’t take unneeded tests and DO take those that will help your app.
