@“aunt bea” What do you mean to “build up essay topics- 8 topics minimum?” Is this for the common app?
So apart from FAFSA and the Common App, are there any other “paperwork” apart from the forms on the individual college websites that I will have to fill in.
@Lindagaf Just ordered the financial aid handbook. thanks for the recommendation!!
Also, people… I am hard of hearing, and I know that there are scholarships specifically for people like me. I know that there is a Graham Bell Scholarship that I plan to apply to, but is there anything else?
You definitely got this under control man. Don’t be like me and do the entire application in one day on a school day(including the common app essay lol),
I wouldn’t start building up essay topics until you decide which schools you plan to apply to. Clemson and USC are not Common Ap schools. Clemson did not have any essays associated with their application. You need to check on University of Md, Va Tech and University of SC. Most schools that aren’t common ap schools have very specific essay topics which aren’t released until later summer early fall. For Clemson Honors , there were 5 specific topics . I’m not sure about USC, Md or Va Tech.
Does your school have a “Brag Sheet” or similar that you will give your teachers to help them write a LoR? Perhaps that was what you were thinking as far as writing a resume?
“Note that VA Tech is reported to be the only school in the country that is requiring the new SAT for Class of 2017. The ACT will also work.”
@Ynotgo Are you sure? This could ruin my chances because I have nailed the old sat and did not bother taking a new one.

@Ynotgo Yes, that is exactly what I meant in terms of creating a resume.
@carolinamom2boys I am at a public school, yes. I ran out of time on the science section though so I had about 10 questions blank. This can bomb my ACT score spectacularly. I do not want to take any more tests after spending so much time cracking the old SAT.
Besides, I do not know my score… my school did not give me score reports [crummy, I know]. If anything, I will not be going to V. Tech, so it does not make sense for me to apply. V. Tech is so like USC in terms of curricula but it has less flexibility in terms of pursuing a double major in comp sci./engineering and math. The only reason why I thought I might go there is that V. Tech would allow me to do an expedited bachelor+master program and allow me to get a masters from a well-regarded school.
@Ynotgo Thank you very much for that. That kills my hopes.
I don’t know when scores will be released. That’s a good question for your GC. The answers to most of the questions your asking can be found on each school’s website or in the Common Data Set for each school. Take time to research the schools you’re interested in this summer .
