I'm a junior and I just registered for the SAT II subject tests in US History and Math Level 2 for the june test date. I've taken a kaplan course for the SAT one so I've never really worried about how to get ready, but for the subject tests, specifically the math, what's the best way to prepare? I'm currently taking AP US History, and the AP test is about a week before the SAT II, so i figure that should be adequate prep for the history, but I worry about the math. Are there any books I can buy that would make me feel more comfortable on the test? I'm praying that I get ~750 on each of them, but I'd be content with a 700, and i'm in precalculus if that makes a difference.

Jmarsh--I just got this book to prepare for the Math Level 2 SAT Subject Test

It's called: Thomson Peterson's SAT II Success: Math Ic/ IIC [3rd edition]

From what I can tell, it looks like an excellent test prep book for the Math IIC Subject Test. (I--too--am taking it in June).

Regarding the US History Subject Test, I just took it January 22nd and received a score of 790, which I was thrilled about. Basically, for preparation, pay attention in class. Also, before the Ap Test/Sat 2 for U.S. History, you can either buy a book or check out sparknotes, and review the key time periods of U.S. History [Industrial Era; Post World War II era, etc.] Personally, I just read through a U.S. History summary from some random ap book and it helped for the Sat 2 Subject Test.

Good Luck!

[hope this helped]

no no no
dont get peterson's
GET BARRON'S!!!!!!!
10% of the ppl that take IIC get an 800 so aim for that
barron's prep is said to be THE best when it comes to IIC because it throws out the most difficult problems and easily gets u an 800 on the test

thanks both of you, it really helped becaused I seriously had no idea where to start in preparing for the two tests, i'll have to make a trip to barnes and noble some time, thanks again...

Honestly, there are so many idiots on these fora. If you want to know what book to use, and you want an instantaneous response, go to amazon.com, type in SAT II History or SAT II Math IIC and read reviews on each book. Then, select whichever fits you the best based on the reviews and other information listed, and purchase the book. One website, accurate reviews, good information, trusted and reliable. It makes NO SENSE to start a thread here which will probably A. contain useless information B. spur some type of idiotic argument and C. take up valuable space on the fora.

F.Y.I. Aignam -- you don't need to be telling people what is and what is not an appropriate post on this forum; you don't make the rules. Jmarsh had a question, so I tried to answer it. Also, "useless" information to you might be valuable to someone else.

No need to be rude.

"C. take up valuable space on the fora"???

I apologize for being so selfish...
