Preparing for the CFA

Hi, I’m a Senior in HS applying to the Naval Academy. I have good grades and SAT scores (4.47/3.95 GPA 2310 SAT) as well as a host of extracurricular research which shows Math and Science skills, and I am captain of my school’s debate team which is supposed to show leadership. The big detriment in my application is on the physical side, I haven’t played any team sports in High School and currently I am not close to meeting the CFA requirements (Mens).

Does anyone know more recently updated average scores for the CFA or a good workout routine to prepare? I’m working on doing the upper body exercises that you need to for the exam and on trying to improve how fast I can run a mile each day, but if anyone knows a good specific routine that would be preferable. Also, for the crunches portion, which seem to be more like sit ups, are your feet secured? I can do about half the maximum with feet secured but without I am much worse off. Since I still need plenty of time to train in order to be in a good place to take the CFA, I was thinking of taking it in December after submitting everything else in my application before that, December is before the deadline but a little later than usual, will that hurt my chances?

Thanks.

Taking CFA later won’t hurt your chances. I know you can find CFA guidance on West Points website. They both do exactly the same test, I believe
