Preparing for UW

What are some must-have clothes, shoes, etc. when going to college in Seattle? I am from California so I need some guidance on what most people wear and need up north. Thanks!

It may not be much different from what you wear at home, depending on where you live in California. It doesn’t get that cold most of the time, but it does rain, so a hooded rain jacket, like a North Face, is a good idea. It’s a big campus and you may walk long distances between classes. Fleece, sweatshirts, a warmer sweater or two, some gloves or mittens, and that may be all the warm clothes you need. How much of what may depend on how fashion conscious you are.

@AmicaMom got it right.

Plus, you do not need an umbrella. Seattleites know that using an umbrella is a signal that you are from out of town.

If you are a guy, you won’t need a necktie nor a jacket to go with it; unless you want to bring such things.
If you are a gal, you won’t need high heels.
Everybody is casual in Seattle. very casual.

A rain jacket – hooded or not – is a definite must. I personally prefer a hat rather than a hood.

Casual is the name of the game in Seattle.
