preparing to go to U of Toronto, job help

Hey,

I am preparing to go to the University of Toronto soon and I am trying to give myself every advantage I can so I can get a good job when I graduate. So that means I have to get good internships while in school.

The main reason I am doing this is because my brother just graduated from college a year ago and has had a tough time getting a good job. He said I should go through college with the goal of getting a good job when I graduate. He worked at a terrible job for a year even with a college education.

As I don't go to U of Toronto just yet, I was curious if anybody knows what sort of job assistance they have. I found a website that is for professionals in toronto at http://toronto.konnects.com While the site is for working professionals, I thought it could be a good way to get my name out there and see if I can get some good interships in User Interface development. Does the university run any websites like this one?

Thanks for the help.

it all depends on your major and where you plan to work. are you living in Canada? then a U of T degree carries weight and prestige but won't necessarily get you a top paying job. No degree guarantees that. if you're in business that would help. internships would help as well. U ofT has a career centre with postings for internships and summer jobs. do those if you can. even if you degree is in sociology but your experience is in advertising you probably would still do well in the job market.
