So I had a really rough first quarter of my freshman year and ended up getting a C- in my chem class. Since then I've improved and gotten much better grades, but as I was looking through some pre-pharm requirements, I noticed a lot of them stated that they require a C or better in their prerequisite science courses. I moved onin the coursework for chemistry, so I can't go back and retake it. Does that mean I'm doomed to be rejected by pharm schools because of my C- from my first quarter of college? :(

Nope, it means that you need to excel in biochem and physiology as these classes are ultimately what your basic chemistry requirements are meant to prepare you for. Your application would be strengthened by other factors including research, clinical experience and strong letters of recommendation. Focus on these and do well in your more advanced classes and you will be in a better position for pharmd apps. On an unrelated note, if you are like the 45% of pharmd applicants and plan on having a bachelors before you apply, then strongly consider pharmd/phd programs. My sister is looking into those and she tells me that they are vastly superior and attract a much higher caliber of student.

Cool, thanks! This is very reassuring.
