Prepharm

I'm currently going in as a music major for UCLA. However I want to get a career as a pharmacist. So I have two questions

a) Would it be possible to music major and take prepharm at the same time or would I have to switch majors? Would it be recommended (either way) ?

b) How hard is pre pharmacy at UCLA? Its common knowledge that for prepharm, premed, and preopt students, GPA is more important the the school name.

My other options are UCIrvine, UCSD, and UCSB.

Much thanks.

yes its possible to be a music major and be prepharm. prepharm/med/opt/dent arent majors or anything you declare to the school (at least not for UCLA). its just something you decide you want to do, and you take the necessary classes in order for you to get admitted to a pharm/med/opt/dent school.

Ok cool that's what I thought. So the bigger question remains:

Will prepharm alone be tough? And with a music performance major will I have time to practice AND study?

Once again much thanks

you take the same classes as the premed kids. This is the same where ever you go.

You can go to UCSD and fill the prerequisites for Pre-pharm and major in some kind of science chem, biology, or whatever is similar. after getting bachelor's degree in chem, biology or whatever similar, apply for UCSD Skaggs school of pharmacy.

^
Thats what I'm planning to do. I'm still a junior in High school though. an Option for me i guess.

Thanks all, but my question right now is how hard do you think prepharm is at UCLA.

well as stated, prepharm is pretty much premed; and at UCLA premed isn't that easy. If you are smart and preservering you can probably handle it.

prepharm's will have to take the same curriculum as the premeds (i think). so yes, its gonna be tough. but id talk to a career center councelor about the gpa you should aim for and specifics about the classes to take.

Alright thanks. I guess this isn't really a question that anyone but me can answer since it varies from person to person.

Thanks for your efforts
