How about BU? Do you guys know anything about it?

Pepperdine, Princeton, University of Virginia

sprkl, my father graduated from BU 30something years ago. that's all i know about it. i'm not applying there but i probably should considering i'm a legacy.

Princeton isn't as preppy as you guys think it is.

Bucknell, Middlebury, Lafayette and Trinity can be added to the above schools.

Dartmouth isnt as preppy either, def not like Davidson or alot of southern schools. Also MIAMI ohio is crazy preppy!

Miami U of Ohio.
I grew up in Oxford, my parents are college professors. While there is a small section of non-preppy people (all the western college students) everyone is pretty damn preppy. I've never seen more pearls and popped collars in my life. JCrewU isn't a joke. Actually, I've heard that the Oxford, OH zip code has the most J Crew catalogues mailed than any other zip code in the country... probably not true but the fact that the rumor exists is definitely saying something

Dartmouth is preppy. Very. Pop the collar and pearl necklaces. I went to a residential camp for five weeks and had about 20 interns from Dartmouth. Unless I met the only preppy kids from Dartmouth, you're mistaking when you say it's not preppie.

I totally disagree compared to most places I went. Dartmouth has its preppy contingent like everywhere else, but if anything overall the students are much more relaxed. What camp did you go to, there is no way it could have been a random sample. Its no georgetown or MuOhio.

While I agree that Miami University is probably one of the preppiest schools (along with DePauw and Dennison), at least you can escape the preppy hoards if it is your desire. As khmelt indicated, Miami has the Western College program, which is decidedly unpreppy.

If you spend all of your time at Western College, you would swear that you were at a private, leftist, liberal arts college (by the way, both my wife and my cousin graduated from Western). Since Western students take the majority of their classes at Western, which is physically separated from the red brick and the J.Crew, many liberal students have a wonderful academic, intellectual and supportive experience at Western.

I went the Advanced Studies Program at St.Paul's school in Concord, New Hampshire.

ohhh princeton is madd preppy. i live 5 mins away from there. they turned me into a preppie.

Is Boston College? Someone told me it was, I've never seen it.

WM is not very preppy, or course there are some, but not the majority..... both UVA and Richmond are much moreso.

Penn and Princeton are probably the two preppiest schools. I go to penn and i can tell you if you don't wear armani, versace, burberry, prada, coach, louis vuitton, lacoste, etc. you're nothing. Don't even try to wear **** like banana, j crew, abercrombie.

SMU (Southern Methodist University) has a lot of popped collars -- mostly the freshman/sophmores from my investigations it seems to be an underclassmen thing. The juniors/seniors seemed to be wrapped up in finishing up major requirements and graduating that the popped collar trend doesn't matter as much -- hope this helps.

I'm sorry to be ignorant but what's a "popped collar"? I've been out of the country too long!

BC is pretty preppy, but not that bad. BU is very diverse, and I wouldn't call it preppy at all. I'm surprised people didn't really mention it, but Harvard was definitely really preppy. I noticed it even in the group of kids and families I took my tour with. And I'll also agree with Princeton, most of the people seemed really nerdy or overly preppy, i.e. this girl and her mom in my tour group with matching pink&blue preppy outfits, complete with the polo, pearls, and topped off with sweaters tied around their necks.

usmominuk -- popped collars are the essential in preppy fashion. basically you take a polo shirt (collared button down) and unbutton the sides of the collar and then pop them up. It stays up better if it's a heavier material. check out some different american fashion magazines or stores to get a better idea of the trend

jangel86, lol, i liked your description of the matching mother and daughter! wow, that was a good laugh... :-)

so BC is just "pretty preppy, but not that bad"... thats good to hear because although i wear mostly preppy clothes (the "pseudo preppy" that the real preps like to clarify i.e. 'crombie) i don't think i could ever do the whole sweater around the neck thing.

BC is flaming preppy, I visited my friend who goes there and it was ridiculous! Still, I don't have other colleges to compare it to but I thought it was outrageous
