@digmedia how long have you been practicing film? you seem to have quite the experience on it.
@ready100 - Thanks for thinking I’m a filmmaker. I am not. I am basing all of my “advice” on what I saw work for my son. He was passionate about film in high school and went to a “no-name” film school for college. But there, he (and his group of friends) did everything right: making lots of films, entering lots of competitions, taking on a bunch of roles in each others’ films, and planning for the future. In his junior year in college, they did a film which they hoped would get them noticed. It did… in about 16 film festivals, winning a variety of awards. It got them a showing at the New Film Makers LA event and won the Grand Jury Prize at the Ivy Film Festival. Almost all of the students who worked on that film now have great careers. And it was all planned from the beginning; it did not happen by accident. When you do get to film school, remember that your fellow student colleagues will be your “network” when you graduate, so surround yourself with the best.
Two videos for you:
- A sampling of the some of the film scenes he did: https://vimeo.com/123982157
- A music video he and a very small group of colleagues did for Mirada Studios. It won the MTV VMA award in 2013 for Best Visual Effects in a Music Video and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Music Video in 2014: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47dtFZ8CFo8
WOW! those are truly remarkable works Every hard work paid for him. I wish I could experience the same .
