^The Preppy Handbook is old and schools change. Also, there are different kinds of preppy. I get the feeling that the OP is looking for southern prep not more grungy, outdoorsy, old money NE prep. Vineyard Vines and Southern Tide vs. flannel shirts, Bean boots, and grandpa’s old barn coat.
Reed, Colorado College, Vassar don’t ring as preppy to me, although you will find some preppy people there.
Trinity, Georgetown, Colby, yes.
“For those who were interested …” Further qualification or comment is not in conflict with that.
Nope, not in conflict. Just adding color.
2boys: Sometimes I’ll post something from a stated source (could be SAT scores, a reference to an article, etc.), just so it’s there somewhere on the thread. Sometimes posters assume that I am attesting to the absolute validity or relevance of what I have posted. I’m glad you did not. Your comments did relate well to the OP’s interests.
I don’t believe the closing of Sweet Briar is a “done deal”.

Furman University, Greenville SC
Don’t forget Davidson
Maybe add Connecticut College and Hobart to the list.
