Hi! I’m sitting my SAT test next saturday and now I’m scoring about 1800-1900 but I would like to improve it. Prepscholar seems really effective and since I have so little time I thought that I would use it only for the free trial period. However I’m not sure if it’s safe and don’t want to lose 400$. Does anyone know anything about it? Will they give me my money back?
Go to your local library and check out an SAT prep book.
Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back.
Have you tried testive?
Hi @barborazel !
After the rather disappointing score I got on my October SATs (2130) (ok well it’s alright for some but I’d prefer better – like a 2300+ :P), I decided to try Prep Scholar for the trial (after a recommendation from my friend – she got a 2250 and was raving about it). (I’m also taking the November.) I actually really like it (so I’m on the program now – although it’s only been like a week). It has a fairly individualized approach. It pushes you, but not too much, and forces you to stick with a schedule. It also uses BB practice tests, not some third-party ones (cough Kaplan cough).
Just a note though (so it doesn’t seem like I was hired by them or anything), this summer I worked with a lot of awesome prep books (you can see some of my previous posts): PWN the SAT, The Critical Reader, The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar, and The Essential 500 Words <-- these definitely got me to the 2100+ range. Unlike my friend, I was wayyy more skeptical of Prep Scholar. The major reason I decided to try it was because I kind of plateaued score-wise (consistently 2100-ish), and with school it’s very difficult for me to concentrate/go back into those books again/reread them. What I do is use Prep Scholar, but I also occasionally supplement it with my books for each concept I’m learning.
If you’re busy/less motivated/cramming, go for the free trial. It’s definitely safe (trust me that was a big concern of mine too – online programs that aren’t as mainstream as Kaplan and PR Review make me nervous) [and by safe I mean not spammers, I didn’t actually limit myself to the free trial though], and moves you along with your studying.
In an ideal circumstance though, I would retake the SAT in like December/January and buy some books, which can definitely give you an initial increase at least – probably catapult you past a 2000/2100 depending on how effectively/efficiently you study.
I know college confidential is very pro-self-studying, and I agree it’ll give you the most benefit, but trying to effectively study with less distractions is difficult in a 1-week period – and Prep Scholar does have that free trial to offer.
Feel free to PM me for more info! Or I know one of the cofounders Allen lingers around on cc, you could always PM him too (though probably for a biased answer :P).
Hope I helped a little bit!
The free trial is 5 consecutive days and not 5 days of logging in, right?
I think D messed it up by signing up and then not working on it for over 5 days.
Should be 5 consecutive days after taking the diagnostic
