I have applied to transfer to College of Engineering of both University of Michigan and UIUC. However, I noticed that they required students to take chemistry and chemistry with lab before students appliy. Is that means I will definately be refused or there are some exceptions?
If it says required, i’m pretty sure it means just that: required. The question is though, why didn’t you read that information before you applied?
If you have major doubts, I would just call the two schools and ask them.
Now, I think you are right. Actually, before I applied to Umich, I emailed admission office. They replied that: “It is better for you to get enrolled. However, you can still apply, if you do not take this class.” When I noticed their reply, I did not think this can be the main reason to refuse me. But now, I understand that the prerequired course does matter.
Are you applying as a junior? What semester are you applying for?
The UIUC application for this fall is already closed. I’m guessing UMich is closed for this fall as well. For junior admissions, UIUC is pretty strict about required classes. Especially in majors with heavier course loads like engineering.
I have already applied to both Umich and UIUC Fall 2015. Though I did not receive any decisions, I guess I can make prediction now.
Ahh, I see. I’m also currently waiting to hear back from UIUC for Fall 2015. They said by mid-April, so it won’t be much longer.
I’m in my third year at CC. I applied to UIUC last year and I fell into a weird grey area. I had more than 60 credits, so I didn’t qualify as a sophomore transfer, and I was missing a few required physics and calculus classes to qualify as a junior transfer…so I was denied. I have all of my missing prerequisites done now though. Hopefully we hear back soon.
Have you gotten your decision from UIUC now? I am still waiting. I heard from others that this week UIUC will release many decisions. However, my application status still the same.
