I'm applying to UCLA and UCB this semester and after the fall semester I will have all my prereq courses done. My GPA will be 3.93 if I get all A's but now I'm worried because I'm taking sociology this semester and I ended up in a class where the teacher seems really hard and values that you talk a lot in class which is my weak spot. So, I'm thinking about dropping and taking another class instead so now my question is - how will this affect my application if I do? If I drop this course and take it next semester when my workload is easier, will it affect my application that I have one prereq left to do in the spring? PLEASE HELP ME I'm freaking out about what I should do. It feels like it will be bad for my application no matter what I do :(

If you drop the class by the ‘no record’ deadline, it won’t even show on your transcript, and you won’t have to report ever dropping the class.
However, you seem to have a high GPA, so why be scared? You have probably had harder classes. The cc semester has barely even started. I would advise you to stay in the class, but that’s just my opinion… You can also look for your instructor and class on myedu.com and see how he/she grades. It might help with your decision. He/she might seem over-demanding at first, and sometimes that’s not the case at all. Don’t freak out :)

Thank you for your reply. Yes, had it been any other semester I would probably manage and still keep my GPA but I’m taking math this semester and also more units than I usually do to be able to transfer next year. Math is a subject I really struggle with so that’s why I feel that I need to put all my focus on that … so with sociology on top of that (I checked my teacher and he is in fact a difficult teacher that demands a lot) it feels over the top even for me. I’m an international student so everything being in English requires a lot of studying to get the grades I need, I just don’t think I can manage. This feels like I will screw up no matter what I do …
