Prereqs for a non-impacted major

I am a very confused sophomore. I'm realizing that while a career in medicine sounds interesting, I don't necessarily want to major in something like bio/chem/ect.

I'm interested in history and would love to transfer somewhere, especially UCD, as a history major. The problem is that I've been doing premed classes and have only had one history class. I could possibly take 3 more history courses my sophomore year, but only one would fulfill a prereq. This is because I go to a LAC that offers very few history courses, and most aren't as general as what the UCs have as their prereqs.

Would it even be possible to transfer in as a history major with only 2 prereqs fulfilled?

I dont think you would have a problem transfering to UCD without your prereqs finished. Your counselor would be a better source than me but if you have TAG or even just IGETC done I would feel confident that you will get in. Good luck.

alohakala,
if your saying that you have a lot premed classes done and not many history, then why don’t you TRANSFER as a bio or another major for which you have taken the cousrses for, and then change your major when you get there? Also, it will not matter or be held against you if your college doesn’t offer the courses for history.

I’m having the same issue with my current major, linguistics.
I realized after a year that I no longer wanted to major in Business and decided linguistics was better. You could always explain in your personal statement about the fact that you realized you didn’t want to major in pre-med anymore. That would give your readers a heads up about the fact that you’re working on fulfilling prereqs for history, but also have many pre-med courses.

Is it really that easy to switch majors when you get there? Could I do it before the fall quarter?

I think I would want to transfer in as a nutrition science major since I don’t want/need a whole year of calc, which is what it takes to get in as a bio major (which is too competitive anyway)

I would rather transfer as history because that’s what I want to be and I know I could write a very passionate essay, but if the prereqs are gonna kill me, it isn’t worth it. I’m also worried they’ll think I’m one of those premeds that tries to get in as a history major because it’s not impacted and then switches to bio which is NOT true. I just want to finish of the few premed classes I need and spend the rest of college studying history.

Thanks everyone for the input :)

its not that hard…i think you have to wait a quarter before they allow you to change it if im not wrong, and go in as a nutrition science major instead of bio.
