Prerequisite Issues, please help!

Hey there, I’m a California Community College student that’s looking to take two classes over the summer at UC Davis, so that I can get through my sequence a bit faster. I was going to try to take Math 21B and Physics 9A during Summer Session I, since it’s literally the only school I’ve seen that offers those classes during the summer, two classes that I need very desperately.

Yet, I noticed that Physics 9A had Math 21B as a prerequisite. After reading up on the description for Math 21B, I noticed that the class involved integrals, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and applications of integrals, and integration techniques. At my community college, I’m currently in Calculus 1, which covers everything from limits to applications of integrals, yet according to assist.org, the class only satisfies Math 21A, so I’m being forced to take 21B, which is fine since I get to skip Calculus 2 at my school.

So, I just wanted to ask, is it possible to take these two courses concurrently, even though one is a prerequisite? I already know everything that’s needed for Physics 9A from Calc 1 except for integration techniques, which I can learn easily on my own. In a situation like this, would this request be negotiable?

This is extremely important for me, as it is literally the difference between transferring out in one more year, or two more years. Please help.

tl;dr I need to take Physics 9A and Math 21B, but one of them is a prerequisite. Can I negotiate with the registration office, since I already know everything needed for Physics 9A from my Calc 1 class?

Haha, UCD doesn’t take prerequisites that seriously, except for certain classes (such as engineering classes)–for example, I took a Biochemistry class for fall and winter where the prerequisite was O-Chem, but there were people who were taking O-Chem for the first time and they didn’t get kicked out of the class. You can take Physics 9A and Math 21B at the same time. SISWEB doesn’t block you from registering for both classes.
