Prerequisites After Application Submission

I was wondering whether it would matter if I took prerequisites after I submitted my application to the UC colleges I am applying for. For example, I would apply in Fall 2009, but plan to take two of my prerequisites during Spring 2010 because that is when it is offered. Would it have an effect on my admission status?

That won’t be a problem. Many people complete pre reqs after they submit their application. When you fill out the application, it will ask what classes you are currently enrolled in and what classes you plan on taking in the spring. So they know whether you’re going to finish your pre reqs or not. If you get accepted, it will be contingent upon you finishing those pre reqs and the IGETC. Just try to have a good majority of your pre reqs and IGETC completed by the time you apply.

Thank you very much for the response, fijeeboi.

better to get them done by fall than spring.

I am not able to do so because it is not offered that semester and at the college I currently attend.

It is not BETTER to get them done by fall if you cant. They dont reject you because you dont do it by fall.

They can however rescind you if when they admit you it is based on your completion of planned work for spring. Meaning they admit you with the fact in mind that in spring you will finish your preqs.

There are unusual cases where not having the prereqs completed by then end of fall (of the year you apply) can be held against you. The one that I’m familiar with is the engineering school at UCSD. In a FAQ they claim that you will generally not be admitted if you have 4+ prereq classes IP for the winter and spring terms before transfer.
