As a sophomore, I am currently taking academic English 2. I want to take ap English 3 next year but I’m unsure if I can because I’m not in honors this year. Do I just have to do very well this year, or do I have to notify my teacher that I’m interested in taking it.
Thanks
Prereqs are unique from school to school: ask your counselor and/or teacher about what you’re supposed to do.
Though of course, you should definitely make sure you keep up good grades in your current english class regardless.
As a ‘for example’ at my kids’ HS they can sign up for whatever they want from one year to the next. Caveat Emptor
Your GC will have an idea of where you need to be or what requirements your school district has for allowing you to take AP classes. Typically kids who take Honors English 10 at my school go on to take AP Lang and then AP Lit. However, I truly believe that anyone can succeed in those two classes as long as the put in the amount of dedication and time needed. Definitely express your interest though so they know that you want to take the class! Also yes, a strong, solid grade in ENG 10 will definitely help for placement.
Thanks all
