Prerequisites for PLME or PreMed

I’d like to apply for the PLME program next fall and I’d like to know which high school classes will give me the best chance of acceptance. I’m in the IB program and taking as many science courses as possible. Would it be wise for me to take online AP courses to make me more well-rounded? (I was thinking of taking Art History and Politics and Economics) I was told that 2/3 of valedictorians are rejected because they don’t show real interest in medicine, i.e., volunteering at hospitals or in doctor’s offices. Does anyone have an opinion about this? My only problem is that I don’t have many extracurriculars. I was thinking that I would join some to put on my transcripts, but I also heard that i should only pick a few and focus most on them. All of these conflicting opinions are driving me crazy, please help!

Anybody out there?

You absolutely will need to have experience doing something medical related, whether it be research, hospital volunteering, EMT, etc or your chances for PLME are slim to none. As it is, your chances at PLME are slim to none. It's one of if not the hardest program in the country to get into. For premed, you just have to be accepted at Brown and designate yourself as such.

The best way to get into Brown is to take the hardest course load your school offers and have success with it, at least in terms of that perspective.
